I know that’s not technically a downside. Upsides, if you’re a fan of Original Recipe Baja Blast, but didn’t really like Baja Blast Zero, you could maybe grab some Energy Baja Blast instead and find that more to your taste. Zero just had too much of an aspartame aftertaste to me, while the Energy line seems to mask that fairly well, probably because of the grape juice giving you some actual sugar in the mix. In fact, I would say that I like the Energy version of Baja Blast more than Baja Blast Zero. The flavor wizards over at Pepsico did a really good job flavor-matching these two. Actually, as I go back and forth, I might have a hard time really telling these apart if I didn’t know that these were specifically two different sodas. I will say that the Energy version is maybe sliiiightly less “sharp” on the tongue. So, we have that sort of lime flavor that Baja Blast has. Why?īecause, along with the new flavors, Mountain Dew has released Original Recipe Baja Blast as well, so I’m literally sipping them one after the other. And I’m 100% confident in that assessment. But does it *taste* like Baja Blast? Let’s give it a try. And it certainly *smells* like Baja Blast. Well, it certainly *looks* like original Baja Blast (which I also affectionately call Pool Water). I’ll be the judge of that! But first, the pour. It’s a soda that’s made seemingly for my type of consumption, which is nice.īut how about this one specifically? It’s supposedly Baja Blast-flavored (original Baja Blast, that is). I’ve actually been enjoying the line, as I don’t drink coffee or tea in the morning and I am watching my sugar intake. So, yeah, soda that’s not quite Diet or Zero and with some Zinc and some vitamins. A can has as much caffeine as about 2 cups of coffee.Immune support with Zinc, Vitamins A & B, and such. They then use aspartame to sweeten from there) Low sugar (not zero sugar, but zero added sugar. It seems the branding has changed a little since initial release) Made to target the morning soda drinker (at least initially.I’m starting out with the Energy version now that it’s cold.Ī brief recap of the Energy line from Mountain Dew: Anyway, as I said, there’s a new wave of Baja Blast flavors.Īs you can see, I’ve got them all. And they just announced a new exclusive flavor at Casey’s (still trying to get my hands on the exclusive from Circle K in a bottle). Another of their lines is the Energy line (formerly Rise Energy), that itself got a new flavor not that long ago (one that I still have about 12 of, honestly). And yeah, by now, with so many sodas in the mix, I think it’s safe to say that Baja Blast isn’t just a flavor, but a line of flavors. They’ve released new flavors that are spin-offs of the popular Baja Blast line. Mountain Dew and Pepsico have been on a real tear lately with new flavors. It’s time for another Mountain Dew Review.
